Sense & Instability:
a global perspective
Objective: To see if other regions are in a similar situation to England; to see if they come up against similar challenges; and to understand where countries can learn from each other.
Method
By comparing the findings of the English report to a literature review and analysis of past policies for four other regions: the Middle East, South and East Asia, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland, and South Africa.
Involvement
The Research Base (research organisation).
Timeframe
January 2015 to March 2015.
Results
It was found that other areas experienced the same issues, such as frequent changes to policy, a focus on targets, and a lack of integration in higher education and vocational education frameworks. This brought us to realise that we need to learn from each other’s successes and mistakes to improve the skills and employment landscape. The report is being launched in late 2015.
