Ampersand Awards 2017

The achievements of some of the City & Guilds Group’s hardworking employees were recognised last night at the first annual Ampersand Awards, held in London.

Ampersand Award Winners 2017

The Awards, given out across four categories including Imagination, Integrity, Leadership and Pioneer in Skills Development, seek to celebrate our people, values and our purpose and honour those who display commitment to these in their day-to-day work.

This year’s winners include Diane Mitchell, winner of the Pioneer in Skills Development award, whose employer engagement in the hair and beauty sector is legendary, and whose experience, commitment, knowledge, leadership and passion underline how she is truly a pioneer in skills development.

The Imagination Award, which commends creativity and independent thinking, went to Gareth Hopkins. Working on the Evolve platform, Gareth innovatively used a bug – to fix a bug!  He is a great example of how imagination can deliver a commercial benefit - whatever the challenge Gareth can and will come up with a solution.

Meanwhile the winner of the Integrity Award, Bee Esdaile, was recognised for her willingness to go the extra mile and her honest and open approach with both internal and external customers.  She is a true ambassador for the City & Guilds Group’s values.

Finally, Kirsten Train Ward was presented with the Leadership award for her role in the transformation of Learning Assistant, to which she brought clarity, a clear roadmap, insightful customer interaction and real engagement. Under her leadership, the Learning assistant product has gone from strength to strength, achieving a fantastic 98% approval rating from customers!

Speaking about the Awards, Group Chief Executive Chris Jones said: 'Across the City & Guilds Group we have different brands, different products and services and different cultures but we are united by our purpose and Group values. Our people make us who we are, they are the ones that make the City & Guilds Group successful and it’s great that we are celebrating the people that really do go over and above to contribute to our purpose and work with our values in mind.'

Congratulations to all the winners and to those who were highly commended, including Paul Archer, Kate Woolgrove, Jon Joyce, Fi Partington, Nicole Duffett, Becky James and Tina Beeden.
