Would you like to gain a City & Guilds or ILM qualification but finding the cost is a barrier?

Is your income not allowing you to take on further study? Are you in a position where no loans are available to you, and family and friends cannot help you right now?

Have you explored as many avenues for support that you can think of, but still haven’t been successful?

You might be able to apply for funding the City & Guilds Group bursary programme!

What is a bursary?

Unlike a loan, you don’t pay back a bursary. If you apply and are successful, your course costs will be covered.

A bursary is a grant (similar to a scholarship) designed to help those who want a better life for themselves succeed.

We want to see more learners complete our qualifications, so that they can get the job they want, progress within that job and then move onto the next job if they choose. Bursaries change lives.

What can your bursaries be used for?

If you want to study a City & Guilds’ vocational qualifications or an ILM Leadership and Management qualification, a bursary is for you.

The course and its associated costs – such as travel, childcare or learning materials – could potentially be covered.

Qualification criteria

To qualify for a bursary, you will need to:

  • Be 16 years or over
  • Be currently studying, or wanting to study a City & Guilds or ILM qualification
  • Currently be a resident of and study in the UK
  • Demonstrate in your application that you are in genuine financial need

Please note we are unable to make any retrospective payments for course fees and study materials. This also includes self-funded payments or loans that you may have taken out with a college or bank.

How do I apply?

Bursary applications are currently closed. We will be opening registrations of interest at the end of March, with funding available for courses starting in September 2020.
